  1. Hi there. I spent a very comfortable time during I lived there. I could focus onto my business and study a lot. It was very quiet environment, and the Landlord is very kind and generous person, so I would like to recommend for the people who need to study a lot or be in quiet environment.

  2. Hi! I lived here for 4 years, both on the main floor and on the ground floor. This residence is one of the single best locations for a student. It is only 500 meters away from campus, and Cadboro Bay plaza has everything you need, including a great grocery store. The ocean is nearby, and the number 11 bus route will take you directly downtown. Jerry, the landlord, is exceptionally friendly and was a pleasure to get to know during my time there. The residence is also very quiet and conducive to studying. Highly recommended!

  3. I am a current student in the Stibbard House, I found the price reasonable considering what is in the area and the proximity to the University. There are also back path’s through the university property you can walk to on the way to school in a much nicer environment, Jerry is kind and always available to hear concerns or problems which is also very nice, he is also respectful of the tenants Privacy! Renting from this house has been my best and favorite so far of my University Life.

  4. I have been here since last December. To me, this is a clean, charm and quiet property which is suitable for those students who are looking for such a perfect place to stay. Being at the nearest place to both the UVic and the beach is a big bonus! Moreover, you would have a nice landlord, who is incomparable! Therefore, it’s my pleasure to recommend you this house and you will be pleased with your staying here!

  5. I’ve lived here at many different points over the past 10 years. Jerry is a wonderful landlord. He is very easy going, flexible and understanding. This house is truly perfect for students; I know my time at UVic would have been more difficult if I didn’t have this house to live in. I love that it is extremely close to Campus, Starbucks and groceries. I also loved being so close to the beach, it was great to walk down there when I needed a break from studying. Also, summers in Cadboro bay are unbeatable! I would definitely recommend renting a room here!

  6. I lived here in my 3rd year of University. You can’t beat the location, Jerry is very easy to get along with, and a great guy. If you need a nice, quiet, comfortable place to live while you study, this is the place.

  7. Hi there, I spent about 8 months there in Jerry’s place while I was working in UVic as a postdoc research fellow. I had a great experience living in a such nice place plus a very organized landlord, Jerry. An easy walk to Cadboro bay, starbucks, Uvic and grocery store made my life there enjoyable and relaxing. Also, Jerry is always helpful and takes care of all the details that made me not to worry about the stuff like tissue paper running out in the washroom..etc. I highly recommend his home if you’re looking for a comfy, quiet and convenient place to stay!

  8. This’s definitely the place to be. I have visited some other friends’ houses, and they had nothing to do compared to this. You can walk to UVic, to the beach (the best in town btw), go jogging in the woods…

The house is very comfortable and the garden is nice.

Jerry, the landlord, is a very nice chap, he really cares. Before you notice that you need anything, he helps you out.

I would totally recommend this place

PS: I grew some tomatoes at the backyard. If you are the next one to live here, you will have some delicous ones for free 😉

  9. I’ve spent an awesome summer in Jerry’s place, I will miss that beautiful blue house! The location is spectacular: have everything around, you can walk to UVic, take the 11 bus to downtown, buy food in peppers and enjoy Cadboro Bay beach….
The house is very comfortable and the landlord always cares about his residents. Good place to be.

  10. I lived 6 months in room 1. Jerry is extremely helpful and attentive to any need you might have, always happy to improve and buy new tools and furniture whenever he feels you might have a need for it. For example he saw once we were studying in the backyard, and the day after he built for us a large and comfortable wooden table with electricity plugs for our laptops. An other time he saw us having lunch in the backyard and bought for us a BBQ. Same things for bikes (free to borrow) and many other situations. In case of any need (electricity off, toilet not working…) he was always there fixing the problem very quickly and efficiently. He even takes care weekly of the public spaces (kitchens, bathrooms) with ordinary cleaning. You are not just renting a room here, here you are a guest very well treated and considered. Very clean, quiet and perfect for studying.

  11. I spent about half a year living in the house and I absolutely loved it. Jerry is an excellent landlord, and even helped us to keep the place clean at all times (truly appreciated!). The location is the best you can get – 10 minutes walk to Uvic, and about 2-3 minutes walk to the bus station or to the groceries store. The beach is about 5 minutes walk, too. The neighborhood is very safe and there are beauty salons, restaurants, coffee shops – all across the street. What more could you possible ask for?

The house itself is big and even though many people are living in it, you get lots of privacy. Perfect for studying. It has a nice back yard, and even though the kitchen at the first floor is not very big, it has enough space for everyone to work at the same time, and two big fridges for three people so there’s always enough space. Don’t miss this one! 🙂

  12. Hi there!
What can I say more about Stibbard Residence that other guests already told? I must just remark how much Jerry is a so good housemaster! I spent 6 months here and I really felt like if I was at home. For any type of questions Jerry was there, always happy to help you and if you want to take a chat, he will tell you always interesting things and about so many topics!
Among my best memories there will always be the warm summer days spent in the backyard making a barbecue or simply enjoying the sun on a deck chair. If you can and the weather is good, I suggest to take a ride with one of the bikes that Jerry gives for free, there so many good places and landscapes to see all around!
Finally, my vote as a student for this house is: Very Good!!

  13. Hello there!
I lived in Jerry’s house for 4 months and I must say that it was one of the main reasons for my experience in Canada to go so smoothly. The house is extremely well located, with a 8/10 min walk to UVic (don’t go through Sinclair Road, go through the path in the woods!), and with a grocery store (Peppers) literally around the corner, you’ll get there in 2 min, no more. You also have the beach down the road, which is great to workout or just to take a walk to relieve the stress of a bad day. In the house, one thing that I liked was the fact that although you live with 6 other people in the house, your privacy is really valued and respected. I lived in room 1 in the basement, with other 2 people in that floor, and other 3 in the upper floor. You can’t listen a thing when your door is closed, so you can have the silence to study or work. Jerry is the best thing in all of this. He is very helpful and always available for every question and need. He is always working around the house to make sure that the students have the best conditions. Oh, and like it was already said here, the rent includes a free bike, if you ask Jerry, which is great for getting around in Victoria, although you also have a bus stop immediately in front of the house.
In essence, you couldn’t ask for a better deal for your dream student house, and for the rent that Jerry asks, it’s a bargain!

  14. This is definitely the house you want to choose.
I stayed in the University residence for 3 months until I found Jerry’s place. The Stibbard house has so much better conditions comparing the two: many things are included like kitchen stuff, good internet and, if you ask Jerry, some bikes. The house is in spectacular location: have everything around, you can walk to UVic (10 min), take the 11 bus to downtown, buy food in peppers and enjoy Cadboro Bay beach. Jerry’s is a great guy, very helpful and always available for every question and need. He is always working around the house to make sure that the students have the best conditions. Day and night it’s a good place for studying cause even with 7 other people, you can’t listen a thing with your door closed.

    Definitely a go!

  15. The Stibbard Residence is one of the great student houses in Victoria.

I lived there happily for one semester while going to uVic.

Jerry is an extremely helpful guy who is constantly doing odd jobs around the house to ensure that his tenants can focus on their
studies rather than keeping the house in operation! Tenants are provided with fully furnished rooms, fully stocked kitchen,
bicycles, internet, and almost every other household comfort one could think of.

The amazing location, Jerry’s willingness to accommodate, and the abundance of amenities make this house an ideal and hassle-free
    place to stay!

I would recommend the Stibbard Residence to anyone.

  16. Stibbard House is an awesome place to stay and study especially if you have a heavy workload because the house is nice and quiet. Jerry is also a fantastic landlord. 11/10 would stay again.

  17. I couldn’t ask for a better place to live than the Stibbard House. Jerry is the best landlord you can ask for. He genuinely cares about the welfare of his tenants. As an international student, Jerry provided me bed sheets, offered his bike and even asked if I needed transportation from the airport when I arrived in Victoria. The house has everything you could ask and Jerry takes care of several tasks so you can really focus on studying/work. Besides that, the rooms are very spacious and well equipped. So, considering other offers and stories I’ve heard, it’s actually very cheap for what you get. The house is very close to Campus and has a grocery store at the end of the street as well as a bus stop to downtown. The beach is also minutes away from the house. So, if you’re an international student, or any other kind of person, I can’t think of a better place to rent a room.

  18. I lived here for two years, and I had an amazing experience. The location is amazing; right on a bus route to go downtown, within walking distance of UVic, and less than two minutes from a shopping plaza that had a liquor store, grocery store and pretty much anything else you need. Jerry was also amazing, I can’t recommend him enough as a landlord! He was so helpful and friendly, and incredibly responsive if I ever needed everything. Everyone I met in the house was friendly, but it was also nice and quiet so you don’t have to worry about people partying when you’re trying to sleep or study. My room was also really spacious and bright, and it had everything that I needed. I arrived without any bedding, and Jerry provided me with sheets, pillows and a duvet. I really recommend living here: it took away the stress of moving away from home and it was a perfect place to be introduced to Victoria.

  19. I lived in the Stibbard house during the summer and fall semesters spending 4 months in the basement and 4 months in the Cottage. During the summer semester, I lived in room 3. The room was very spacious and reasonably priced. My favorite part about living in room 3 was that it stayed cool during the summer which led to great sleep every night.

During the fall semester, I rented the Cottage. Although it was quite a bit more expensive than the room I rented during the summer, I think it was completely worth it. During the fall, I did a heavy course load that had me leaving early in the morning and coming back late at night and it was great being able to cook meals at abnormal times or play music without needing to worry about keeping others awake.

The area around the Stibbard house is amazing. After getting used to the hill, I was able to leave at 8:15 for an 8:30 class and still make it in time. The house is also a two-minute walk away from Peppers Grocery which was perfect for me since I do not own a car.

What I would say is the hands down the best part about living at the Stibbard house is having Jerry as a landlord. He is laid back, reasonable, and kind but still very professional when it comes to handling his landlord duties. With Jerry, you never need to ask for something twice or give him any reminders because he will always solve your problem as soon as you ask.

Overall, you will have a great experience living at the Stibbard House. I had a great experience renting here and I look forward to living in the Stibbard House again in the future.

  20. I was one of the lucky ones to live in Room 08 for some time. What a fantastic room, very spacious, tastefully decorated, a lot of natural lights with a private full-sized bathroom and a marvellous location. The place will inspire you to study, work on your final term paper, do some reading or just chillax after a long day of lectures and seminars. Jerry is a great host and makes sure you feel comfortable while you stay in his house. He is very respectful, approachable and just a nice guy you can easily talk to. You will definitely enjoy staying in this room (Room 08) if you are lucky enough to get it 🙂

  21. I am very grateful that Jerry allows short time rentals since lived in Room 8 just for 3 months and it was amazing, the room was very comfortable and the common areas have everything you need. Jerry is an excellent landlord, he is very nice and he will help with everything. The house in an excellent location. As an international student I couldn’t ask for a better place.

  22. My Canadian experience wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t stay at the Stibbard Residence. Jerry is the nicest. He is kind, friendly and makes you feel like you’re home.
I was working on my master thesis at the University of Victoria for 8 months and I can say that the house has a perfect location even if you are not willing to go to the campus. Cadboro Bay is a perfect area to chill, walk around and spend time to appreciate nature. The house is very close to the beach which is great, it’s a 2 min walk from the grocery store (Pepper’s) which is an advantage and it’s also near other areas as Willow’s beach or Uplands if you appreciate a good walk. Also, there’s a Starbucks in the Cadboro Bay village which is perfect if you are a coffee person. If you plan to go to Downtown, you can take the bus nº11 and you will be there in 20 min.
The house itself has a lot of rooms but there’s no need to get scared because everyone has their own schedules, there’s enough room for doing your daily tasks and the environment is very quiet.
Having this said I just want to add that this was one of the best experiences that I had so far, I feel grateful for having the chance to meet Jerry and I will never forget my stay in Victoria.

  23. I stayed in Jerry’s house from September–December 2019 as an international undergraduate student at UVic, and found it to be a great place to stay. My room (Room 04) was spacious and bright and had plenty of room for my possessions, and the house itself was quiet and clean, without any noise or disturbances. Jerry was great at communicating before I arrived, and flexible with the date I was able to move in. Everything made me feel welcome, and I’m glad that I got the chance to know Jerry, and learn a bit about his life in Canada. His generosity whenever I had a question or small issue was much appreciated, and his guidelines for living in the property were clearly and professionally laid out. The provision of cooking utensils, bed sheets and towels was also a real benefit to me as an international student staying for only one semester.

The proximity of the house to UVic is a real bonus, especially as an international student when it is not easy to find accommodation options within walking distance of the university. The nearby Starbucks, Pepper’s grocery store, and bus stops to downtown/UVic were also very handy, and the whole area down to the beach is a very scenic spot. I would certainly recommend Jerry’s property to anyone attending UVic as an international student.
